This course examines the nature of manner and etiquette systems in the context of interpersonal as well as intercultural communications through exploring its history and development. As part of the social norms, manner and etiquette systems seem to be more universal with increasing socializations in a more globalized world, especially in the business sector. There are still ongoing debates that some countries still preserve their own manner and etiquette systems in some splendid ceremonies and events. This course further studies the factors and socialization processes that shape manner and etiquette system, while specific application will refer to the culture of business in term of practices and behaviours.
