This course introduces the materials and tools, techniques in brushwork, ink tone variations, and colouring to beginning students of Chinese painting. It also focuses on the techniques of painting in an expressive manner i.e. in the literati tradition of “writing the idea”. In this regard, Chinese calligraphy and painting techniques, as well as the forms of expression are covered.
